Safety
Subaru holds all of its vehicles to the highest safety standards. The 2013 Subaru Outback offers a number of safety features that are not available on the 2013 Toyota Venza. The optional EyeSightTM System available on the Outback Limited helps to detect an immediate impending crash and will automatically apply the brakes at full-force to avoid or reduce a crash. The Toyota Venza does not offer the option of crash mitigation brakes. The EyeSightTM system on the Outback also features a lane departure warning system which will alert an inattentive driver if the vehicle begins to drift from its lane. The Venza does not offer a lane departure system. The Subaru Outback also comes standard with all-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive costs extra on the Toyota Venza. Visit Subaru Pacific to see all the great safety features found on the 2013 Outback.
Engine
The standard 3.6 DOHC 6 cylinder engine found in the Outback 3.6R produces 75 more horsepower (256-hp vs. 181-hp) and 65 lbs-ft. more torque (247 lbs-ft. vs. 182 lbs-ft.) than the 2.7 DOHC 4 cylinder engine that's standard on the Toyota Venza. And the flat cylinder configuration of the Outback's boxer engine lowers the center of gravity, providing the driver with better handling and stability. The Venza does not offer a boxer engine. The engine speed sensitive variable-assist power steering featured on the Subaru Outback offers better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, lower effort parking, and a better feel for the road. The Toyota Venza does not offer variable-assist power steering. The 2013 Outback also offers better off-road capability than the Venza. The Outback features a minimum of 8.7 inches of ground clearance versus the Venza's 8.1 inches. This allows the Outback to travel over rougher terrain without having to stop, or becoming damaged.
