The 2015 Subaru Outback went through a redesign that changed the design greatly from the 2014 model. Not only does the new Outback have a more sleek and rugged look, but it also gains lots of interior space--while the interior volume of the 2014 Outback was 139.7 cubic feet, the new 2015 Outback has 143.6 cubic feet of interior volume!

Both the 2014 and the 2015 Outback let you choose between a 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine and a 3.6-liter Subaru Boxer engine (although adjustments mean that the new 2015 model's engine is both more powerful and more fuel efficient); however, the 2015 Outback has some performance features that the 2014 model lacks. Lineartronic continuously variable transmission is standard on all 2015 Subaru Outback trim levels, whereas it was optional on the 2014 model. In addition, the 2015 Subaru Outback adds X-Mode, a traction assist system with hill descent control that's standard on all trim levels.

When it comes to advances in safety and technology, the 2015 Outback makes things more readily available than the 2014 Outback. Take EyeSight, for example. This driver assist technology system combines adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure/sway warnings, and it was available only on the 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited models in 2014. In 2015, availability of EyeSight now extends to the 2.5i Premium trim level, as well. Features like HD Radio and a premium sound system are also standard or available on more trim levels than before.
